Overview
The Manage Users feature lets you control who has access to your CarbonChain account and exactly what they can see and do. From one place, you can view all existing users, invite new users, change roles, suspend or remove users, and build custom roles with module-level permissions.
Note: Manage Users is available to account Owners and Admins only.
You can access the video guide here or watch it below.
Accessing Manage Users
Sign in to the CarbonChain platform
Select Manage Users in the navigation bar
You will see a list of all existing users with access to your account, along with the role assigned to each user.
Managing Existing Users
Click the three-dot menu next to any user to:
• Edit the user — update details, such as their name.
• Change their role — assign them a different user role.
• Suspend the user — temporarily block their access to the account.
• Remove the user — completely remove their access.
Inviting New Users
From Manage Users, enter the new user’s email address.
Assign a role to the user.
Send the invite. The user receives an email invitation — where they can click a link that takes them straight into the platform.
User Roles
User roles determine what a user can do and see inside the platform. Open the Roles tab within Manage Users to view them. There are four default roles:
Role | Access | User management permissions |
Owner | Full access — can see everything in the platform | Can add admins and any other users |
Admin | Full access to the platform | Can add users, but cannot add other admins |
Member | Can view and edit all areas of the platform | No user management permissions |
Viewer | View-only — cannot edit or upload anything | No user management permissions |
Custom Roles
Beyond the four default roles, you can create custom roles that give you fine-grained control over permissions. When creating a custom role, every module in the platform is listed, and you choose whether the role can view or edit each one.
Example: creating a “Trader” role
Create a new custom role in the Roles tab.
Set View permission for the Supplier Catalogue.
Set View permission for Data Sharing.
Set Edit permission for the Cost Calculator, so traders can use the tool.
Save the role. It now appears in your roles list beneath the default roles.
Assigning a custom role
Once saved, go to any user in the user list, open the three-dot menu, and change their role to the new custom role.
