If you require support adding suppliers to the CarbonChain platform then please review this guide.
Goal
Obtain installation-level, route-specific emissions data that your supplier can reasonably stand behind today and that can be verified in the future (i.e. in early 2027).
From a verifier’s perspective, this step demonstrates whether you have made reasonable efforts to collect actual data before relying on defaults.
What you are requesting
At a minimum, request the following per installation, per product, per production route, per reporting period:
Installation details
Installation name
Physical location (address, country)
Operator (legal entity)
Product and route
Product name/specification
Production route (technology or process used)
Confirmation that the route applies to the reported product
Reporting period
Start and end date (e.g. CY 2025)
Confirmation that activity data covers the full period
Embedded emissions
Direct emissions intensity (e.g. tCO₂e / tonne of product)
Indirect emissions approach (where relevant):
electricity data used,
whether site-specific or average values are applied
The following information goes into this calculation, but is not mandatory for a producer to share:
Precursors / input emissions
List of key precursors or inputs
Whether supplier-specific emissions are used
Fallback assumptions where data is unavailable
Methodology and evidence
System boundaries (what is included/excluded)
Allocation rules (if shared processes exist)
Data sources (meters, invoices, production logs)
Supporting evidence list (file names or references)
Any existing assurance or verification statements
What not to accept (common verifier issues)
Company-average emissions with no installation reference
Blended averages across multiple routes
Emissions values without a defined period
Numbers without boundary or methodology explanation
How can you use the CarbonChain platform to request this data?
Head to the CBAM Supplier Catalogue and filter for your supplier. Go to "Actions" -> "Request data". This will trigger a request for EU CBAM data from that supplier. Alternatively, you can upload data on behalf of the supplier by following the flow.

Subject: CBAM emissions data request for EU imports (installation-level)
Hi [Supplier name],
We import [product(s)] into the EU and are required to report embedded emissions under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
To support this, please provide installation-level emissions data for the following:
Reporting period: latest 12-month period available
Please include:
Installation details (name, address, operator)
Product(s) supplied and production route(s)
Embedded emissions intensity per tonne (direct emissions; indirect emissions approach where relevant)
Methodology notes (system boundaries, data sources, allocation rules)
Supporting evidence references (e.g. metering data, invoices, production records)
Any existing assurance or verification statements (if available)
If you require support please review CarbonChain's CBAM Guidance and you should receive a request to prepare your data via CarbonChain in due course. This process will support your full EU CBAM compliance.
This information will be used solely for CBAM compliance and may be relied upon for future regulatory reporting.
Thank you,
