The EU CBAM requires reporting at an 8-digit tariff code level, known as the EU’s Common Nomenclature (CN) codes. Some example codes for the in-scope CBAM aggregated goods categories and corresponding CN Codes can be found below:

1. Iron and Steel:

  • 72011000: Non-alloy pig iron, in primary forms.

  • 72022100: Ferro-silicon containing more than 55% silicon by weight.

  • 72026000: Ferroniobium.

  • 72071110: Semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel, containing by weight less than 0.25% of carbon.

  • 72081000: Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, width ≥600mm, hot-rolled, not clad, plated, or coated.

  • 73181542: Screws and bolts, of iron or steel other than stainless "whether or not with their nuts and washers", without heads, with a tensile strength of < 800 MPa (excl. screws and bolts for fixing railway track construction material)

2. Aluminum:

  • 76011000: Aluminum, not alloyed, unwrought.

  • 76012010: Aluminum alloys, unwrought, containing less than 99.95% aluminum.

3. Cement:

  • 25231000: Cement clinkers.

  • 25232900: Other Portland cement.

4. Fertilizers:

  • 31021010: Urea, whether or not in aqueous solution.

  • 31052010: Mineral or chemical fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus.

5. Hydrogen:

  • 28041000: Hydrogen, whether or not compressed.

To identify the CN code you require, please look at the customs export documentation that you use to export goods out of your country, or talk with your EU-based customers to understand the CN codes that they import your goods into the EU under.

For a comprehensive 8-digit CN code list for CBAM, it's best to consult the EU TARIC database or the official CBAM Regulation document (Annex I of CBAM Regulation (EU) 2023/956).
